Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice

30th Oct 2022

No amount of wind and rain could dampen Primary 3’s spirits as they headed off on their first Shared Education trip of this academic year to Dyan Mill Farm for a pumpkin patch party.  Wrapped up and braving the elements we made the most of our adventure and got to experience so much more than just picking out a pumpkin.  Greeted by giddy goats and wacky wallabies as well as ghastly ghosts and wicked witches we had a special tour of Dyan Mill meeting all of their residents.  We fed and cuddled fluffy guinea pigs and the softest rabbits as well served up calcium covered locusts to the monkeys.  We met the laziest lamas as well as the latest resident to Dyan Mill, a beautiful baby zebra.  Armed with wheelbarrows we raced across the farm in teams searching for the biggest pumpkins to claim as our own.  Alongside the staff of Dyan Mill, we scraped out our pumpkins and designed the face we wanted to carve out.  The flesh and seeds from the pumpkins were scooped up and served to two very hungry pigs who devoured every bite.  Pumpkins carved we then completed some fantastic pieces of Hallowe’en artwork to take home.  A really wonderful, memorable day for each child in Primary 3 and a great way to kick off the Hallowe’en season. πŸŽƒπŸ‘»
